Hi All:
Wonderful slow day today. Early lunch after just hanging around. Drove to the Eden/Strathtyrme courses and teed off on the Eden. Now the Eden is not named after the garden of eden which would be a nice place to be; but rather after the Eden Slough which runs nearby. We teed off at 12:40 and the skies were again sunny with backdrop of the Leuchars AFB action with Tornadoes taking off continually and buzzing the skies of the St. Andrews Links Courses as usual. The planes are not a distraction at all as one might think, but rather just an added enjoyable vista that surrounds you as you play the Links.

I played using my newly purchase 7 plays within 14 days card. Dick, of course, got on free as a member of the R&A..."THE RAT". We followed a young lady and her dad. She plays on a team in the States at Middle Tennesee University near Nashville. Fun to chat with them. Yes she has become a "ye haw girl" from Tennessee.

The golf was good and we again did well with walking and Dick using the trolley. However, next time he feels that just carrying his bag would be easier than pulling the cart.

Both of us scored well today. Eden is difficult, like a semi-Old Course layout (in fact, the Old Course players cross you twice as you play Eden). I shot a good 93 because I avoided all bunkers today.

Dick, ALAS, found a few as pictured below.
YES that is the flag stick IN BACK OF DICK where he needs to be. But Sanity prevailed to go out of the Pot Bunker backwards.

The Eden Course first hole.

Finally, tonight I made chili and think I may now know the secret of tomato sauce, aka UK. If any of you have friends in UK and can clue me in to the non-tomato sauce and how to adapt one's USA recipes that would be great!

In addition, we opened up the presentation chocolates from the Dunkleys...Lily O'Brien's (www.lilyobrians.com). I had the creme brulee and Dick indulged in the Cookies n Cream. YUM.

Cheerio

  2. I got an answer about your tomato sauce question from someone on my board:

"Our Tomato Sauce is what you yanks call Ketchup, The sauce you need to make Chili is called Tomato Purree. Well thats what i use anyway along with chopped tomatos."

Apparently you put ketchup in your chili. HAHAHA Was it gross? Keep your eyes open for tomato puree.
