Today we attended church at The Holy Trinity Parish Church of St. Andrews. We walked there from the flat. Rev. Harrison led a nice sermon, but unfortunately with the Scottish brogh and Dick's hearing aids, my sinner husband continued to nod off during the sermon...much to my embarrassment. I had to poke him for fear he would SNORE :)

After church we immediately walked over to the R&A Clubhouse for the Sunday Guest Luncheon. We met some lovely people from Elie during drinks in the main room. Then at 12:45 upstairs to the dining room. For my foodie friends the three courses choices were:

1st Course:
Smoked Kinlochawe Salmon and Prawn Marie Rose (Dick's choice)
Charentais Melon, Serrano Ham and Roasted Peppers
Courgette and Watercress Soup with Pecorino Pesto (Su's choice)
2nd Course:
Roast Rib Eye of Galloway Beff with Yorkshire Pudding
Supreme of Chicken with Dornoch Black Pudding, Celeriac and Apple Puree, Marjoram Jus
Pan Friend Breaded Haddock (both Dick of Su's choice)

Selection of Potatoes and Vegetables
3rd Course:
St. Andrews Haar with Rhubarb and Custard Ice Cream
Sticky Toffee Pudding and Butterscotch Sauce with Clotted Cream
Selection of Ice Creams and Sorbets (our choice: Mine - Orange Sherbet; Dick's vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce)

When we came out the band was playing at the Martyrs Monument in the Gazebo.

We elected to go back to the flat, change and then walk around the Old Course with the Sunday locals, dogs, and children. We walked out along the 1st hole through the 7th and then came back in along 12th hole through 18th hole. A lovely day for a stroll.

Dick wanted one more picture of him on the Swilken Bridge.

My excitement today was when back to the flat I telephoned the Pittenweem Festival and was able to find an opening in Maggie Moffat's class on Creative Textiles on Thursday morning. I am so excited I could scream. BUT INSTEAD sent emailed news to girlfriends who would understand my excitement.

Off to Morrisons to get some ice and a few more veggies and fruit...and of course some more WINE!!

PS; CORRECTIONS ON YESTERDAY BLOG POST. THE BURSARY ARTIST WAS ELIN ISAKSSON (not Eli). Also I forgot to mention another artist who's inspiration came from looking atop fence posts at the lichen and such. She had a wonderful collection of textile artwork. I wish she would have let me taken pictures to inspire my friends at home in the Quilt Guild. But when I asked she said I could one of her postcards for 2BP. I did but bah on her.

Cheers.

  1. Had a chuckle at your story about Dick in church. Great photo of him on the bridge--deserves to be enlarged and framed. The food in Scotland is truly wonderful. They say this is influenced [in part] from Mary, Queen of Scots, who was French. Thanks from this foodie for the menu.
