Hi my friends: Here we are back at the New Course after playing the Old Course yesterday. I think I have hit the travel wall...allergies from the bloom, a nerve tweak on the left back hand...legs aching like I feel leg knots will kick in...and I had bad dreams...slept badly.... bed too small and then moved to the twin next bedroom only to get bad dreams. Well obviously this is the kick in of vacation "are you sure you wanna be here..."But of course we do. The weather was incredible. I mean I have never ever seen the locals wear flip flops but they do!!
Okay back to the boring report on our golf. I shot 101; Dick shot 104
The picture above it hole 2 or 3.. and I hit a fine shot...i t bounced a little and then kerplunk into the bunker you could not see from the front. You see them in the above picture...four lining the front of the approach but you can only see two of them as you make the shot. So it goes on the Links of the R&A.
If you are in the fairway it is a good shot. But like I said, I tweak a nerve in the back of my left hand (iced it tonight but not feeling good) then you are okay...otherwise just add one or two strokes.
Coming in and in the fairway...what could be better. well surely somethings.
Finally putting on the 18th hole of the New Course. Into the clubhouse with both of getting a bogie 5 for our final hole. Lunch up in the eating area you see on the left hand side of the New Course Clubhouse. Great food. Dick loves their salmon and haddock soup. We stored our clubs in the locker rooms which require a one pound coin to get the key out. After lunch we picked up our clubs and walked back across the Himmalayas, the Old Course and to the flat. We are exhausted. The cleaning people came today while we were out and all was well and tidy when we got back.
I have no idea what we will do tomorrow. It seems like the Strouds must always have another adventure for the day but I feel like we need a big chill out day.
Went into the village finally at the end of the day. Got some lodging information from the I-tourist bureau. They have so much information...when here you must check them out. They also have weekly posting of the happenings in town and about. Anyhoo we got info on where to stay in Islands of Mull, Skye and also town of Pitlochery as we have changed our schedules slightly.
Well adieu for tonight. We be very tired this night.
I had one of the best evenings of my life in Pitlochery. Just saying the name makes my mouth happy. That's a great shot (photo) of the 18th with the famous clubhouse. Take a train ride through the Trossachs. You can rest and watch the scenery go by in a glass observation car.
